What is Fencing?

Fencing is an exciting non-contact combat sport that is an excellent way to tone up, lose weight, improve your cardiovascular fitness and classes give you the opportunity to meet a bunch of really great people!

You can start fencing with any of the three weapons, Epee: exciting and easiest to learn. Foil: speedy and stylish. Sabre: fast and furious.

Fencing is an individual and team sport, in which the fencer develops skills that allow them to score with the accuracy of a marksman, the control and suppleness of a gymnast and the speed of an Olympic sprinter. A fencer must be able to analyse situations and make split second decisions, time after time.

Fencing improves cardiovascular fitness, hand-eye coordination, balance, concentration, flexibility, confidence and social life!

How do I start fencing?

The best way to start fencing in London! One Two Six Fencing Club offers great beginnners' courses that cater especially for those with no previous fencing experience. Our experienced coaches offer personal tuition to guide new fencers through the basic fencing moves, and on to applying those techniques to fighting on the electric scoring apparatus within the first few weeks of picking up a weapon!

One Two Six is a friendly club where fencers can train at Epee and Foil. Head Coaches are British Team members and Commonwealth Medallists, Jo Maynard and Marc Bengry who have 50 years' fencing experience between them. Jo was also the fencing double for Bond Girl Rosamund Pike (Miranda Frost) in the Bond Movie 'Die Another Day'.

One Two Six Fencing Club Mission Statement

Our mission at One Two Six Fencing Club is to make fencing available to a broad range of people, and to guide them in their leisure or competitive fencing careers as they start to learn how addictive and exhilirating fencing can be. Our priority is to provide top quality coaching in a friendly environment, with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm from our coaches. We are dedicated to expanding 'grass roots fencing' and our squad of competitive Junior fencers, especially in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.
